The young Juliet King

About Juliet King

You’ve come here to learn more about Juliet King, her life and work. She’s a fictional character, of course, but her stories are true.

First, though, a couple of paragraphs omitted from the first edition of the book. Juliet’s editor inadvertently counted the pages wrong, leaving two blank at the back. You could draw pictures on them, or start your own book.

Juliet’s Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my brothers and sisters. I wouldn’t have been able to do the book about ‘Ebe’ without them. Also, I am gratefully to my daughter Julie, who has kept me calm throughout, and to and my good friends, who know who they are.

Editor’s Acknowledgements

The celebrity quote on the back is from Umberto Eco. We didn’t ask him, because he’s dead, but we feel sure he’s with us in spirit. Any factual errors, accidental acts of literary larceny and typographical crimes will be remedied in subsequent editions.

Errata

The list of songs at the back was edited at the last minute and exclude’s Guy’s song: ‘Monster Mash‘ by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers, 1962. Apologies to Guy and the real person who inspired him. Guy would not have heard the original record, even if he’d been alive, because the song was banned by the BBC for being ‘too morbid’. Where would we be without Auntie to look after us?

Work in Progress

We are working on an audio version and an ebook, for those who like that kind of thing. We will no doubt be adding bits of music and pictures, because those things were important to everyone in the story.

Juliet is available to come and talk about her stories and tell you many many more that did not fit into the paper container you may have bought or heard about.

Contact her via this email address: Juliet.king@cheltenhamstories.com. She will be pleased to hear from you.

This book is intended to be the first of many. Contact the editor if you have an idea. We don’t really want to be bothered with agents, because we like writers who take control of their own destinies, but if you are an agent we won’t discriminate against you. We feel your pain.
